Punctuality Challenge – Day 1

Why is being on time important? Everyone probably has different answers to this question. I had personally never really given this question much thought. After looking at this more closely, I came to the awareness that it has great importance for my life. I become frustrated, volatile, and generally impatient when I am running late or pushed for time. I take out these feelings on those around me. This is such a bad example for my kids. I want to be an example of dependability and responsibility for my kids. When I am late, I am telling my kids by example that I am not dependable. I can’t be counted on to keep my word to be where I say I will be at a certain time. I show them that it is not necessarily important to be on time. This demonstrates irresponsibility to them. I want them to be on time for work, church, weddings, funerals, etc. I need to get a handle on this if I am going to train them to be responsible adults. This soul searching has been good for me. I also want to work on this as a gift to my spouse. It would be a small way to bless him. I want to demonstrate considerate behavior to others and internalize the verse in Phillipians 2:3-4, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” NIV
