K is for Karate

My hubby and kids started taking karate lessons two years ago. It started out as a way for my husband and oldest son to connect and to help boost the self-confidence of my son. This undertaking has now grown into including my youngest son, and I am even considering taking lessons when our youngest is old enough to start. We have found that our Christian instructor is preparing our sons to defend themselves in the event on an attack and I think the self-defense lessons are invaluable. I feel more confident now that if my sons were ever attacked or someone attempted to kidnap them, that they would have a better chance of getting away. It has promoted bonding between my husband and sons and has provided a means of physical education for them as well. This week marked our yearly “belt testing”. My husband and eldest were promoted to green belts and my youngest son, who has only been studying for a year was promoted to advanced white belt. Here are some photos of the guys. I am so proud of them. They worked hard for these belts.
