30 Days of Prayer for Our Kids – Self-Control

Self-Control -
I find this quality difficult to teach to my kids. I know there are times when I do NOT demonstrate self-control. I let my tongue get out of control. I say things I shouldn’t say, I get frustrated with my kids, I overeat. God is bigger than my issues and I know if I am faithful to continue to seek him for guidance in these areas and submit to the Holy Spirit’s leading when he convicts me of sin and gives me warnings, He will enable me to model this for my kids. Help me Lord!

My Prayer Today

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this day. I lift my heart to You in praise. You are the author and finisher of my faith. I bless Your name. I ask that You will cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Give me the wisdom to lead my kids by example today. I ask for grace to teach self-control as I am learning it myself. Give my kids strength, wisdom and especially self-control. Help them keep the desires of the flesh under the control of the Holy Spirit. I ask all this in Your Holy Name,

My inspiration for this series loosely comes from a prayer card published by Navpress and is available for purchase at this link. This would be a great bookmark for your Bible. I am in no way affiliated with NavPress. I also want to mention my friend Marcy at Ben and Me whom I am joining with for this challenge. She has some great resources available on her site as she is praying for her child’s head, shoulders, knees and toes.
