Thriving, Not Just Surviving – Day 7

Saying Goodbye to Survival Mode

Day 7

I hope you will visit Money Saving Mom and read more about her newest book, Saying Goodbye to Survival Mode, available now at major retailers. I read a pre-release copy of this book and loved it so much that I bought my own hardcover copy. I received an ebook for review. I am really gleaning some great stuff!  You can read my review here. I started the 7-Day Challenge a while ago, and decided it was time to wrap it up here on the blog.

For the last day of the challenge, we are encouraged to celebrate by rewarding ourselves. Taking 10-15 minutes to do something you enjoy can be rejuvenating and help you stay on track with accomplishing your goals. I created a list for myself to help me think of some things that I could do to reward myself when I am able to check off some things from my goal list.

The first list includes items that take a little longer or require some cash:

  • pedicure

  • massage

  • digital scrapbooking

  • lunch with friends

  • making a special dessert

  • buy a new shirt or shoes

  • Dinner date with my hubby

And this list was free or cheap things to do

  • Get a good book and find a place outside to read

  • Play Candy Crush on my phone or Solitaire, Mahjong on the computer

  • Savor a cup of tea or coffee

  • Take a hike in the woods

  • Write in my journal

  • Play the piano

  • Watch a movie at home with my spouse

Since we saw the challenge all the way to completion, we are now going to pick one thing off our list to do for ourselves as a reward.

I chose playing the piano. I LOVE to do this, but find I don’t take enough time to stop and do things I enjoy. There always seems to be something pressing vying for my time.

I had almost forgotten how much playing relaxes me and helps me to focus on Christ and get my heart right with Him. It is one way that I like to praise and worship the Lord. It ministers to my soul.

The next thing on my list to do is give myself a pedicure. I like having it done in a salon, but the budget is tight right now, so I am planning to do this for myself. It can still be fun. I found a neat pampering routine and ideas on things you can do for yourself from the Fly Lady. I have done the routine in the past and can tell you it is wonderful.

No matter what you chose to do, learn to celebrate your successes and say goodbye to survival mode forever! Thanks for joining me in this challenge. I plan to keep working toward more freedom in my life and schedule. I would love to hear your stories in the comments below. BLESSINGS!
