We have been attending some type of homeschool convention every year since the start of our homeschool journey. I even sent my hubby in my place one year when I had just given birth to our third child (He is such a trooper!) We started out by going together as husband and wife and as the kids have grown, we have started making it a family affair. We all look forward to time with family and friends, hotel stays, great encouragement from awesome speakers and the opportunity to see loads of great curriculum and school supplies. I think it is one of my most anticipated events in our year. I get motivation, encouragement and ideas to help me continue this journey we call homeschooling. If you have never attended a homeschool convention, I highly recommend that you look for a convention near you. We attended the Teach Them Diligently Convention in Spartanburg, SC last year and it was a wonderful experience. We saw the announcement at the convention that in 2014 there would be a conference in Washington, D.C. My wheels immediately started spinning and I talked with my husband about ending our two-year study of American history by attending this conference and staying afterward to do some sight-seeing in the capitol. One of my sons has been asking to visit Mount Vernon for several years so we will work this in to the trip as well. We are really looking forward to the conference coming up in May. If you are interested in attending, don’t wait, sign up today! I would love to meet you there. If you are attending, leave me a comment below. Some of the speakers that I can’t wait to hear from include:
- Crystal Paine – from Money Saving Mom
- The Trim Healthy Mamas
- Debra Bell – I just love to hear her speak. She is a wealth of knowledge and encouragement.
- Josh Duggar – I love to watch his family’s reality show
