We took a couple of weeks off of school while I was on mission for Jesus in Romania the first half of June (look for my mission post coming soon). When I returned last week, I spent a couple of days recovering from jet lag, getting the house in order, menu planning and grocery shopping. I took the kids to a local park which has recently added a water feature as a reward for bearing with me on a grocery shopping trip. We had a great time and ran into some church friends while we were there.
VBS – Finding Your Place in God’s Story
Our theme for this week’s VBS was finding your place in God’s story. Our kids had a blast learning about God’s plan for their life. I didn’t teach this year since I had only been home a few days from my trip to Romania when VBS started. Drew worked as a preschool assistant this year for the first time. He commented on how tired he was after chasing 4 year olds around all night. We laughed and told him to join the adult club. LOL! David and I have been teaching AWANA Cubbies (3-year olds) for two years on Wednesday nights. Drew is the red-head on the far right side standing up.
We were able to bring my nephews and niece along for the fun and I loved these photo captured by our friend Michael Renew.
I loved this one. Lydia was hiding from the photographer. My nephew has the most beautiful eyes. They are best buddies!
Song time. We had a band and the kids had a blast! It was a little too loud for this mama, but the kids didn’t seem to mind.
Luke and his two cousins are on the front row far left.
Wednesday night was family night and we ended VBS by having the kids sing for the parents. There was a slide show and a gospel presentation by Pastor Jack. What a joy to be a part of something special like this. Five decisions were made for Christ.
The last thing we did was spend a little time watching science DVD’s and doing an experiment. We made elephant’s toothpaste and it was cool to watch. You can read the review here.
That about wraps up our week. We have some fun planned for the weekend with Fourth of July activities with friends and at church. See you next week!
