Combined Podcast on Homeschooling

I recently did a combined podcast with Steve Blackston, blogger for Husband of a Homeschooling Mom.  We discussed homeschooling in today’s world and the roles of dads in homeschooling.  I enjoyed the experience and look forward to doing more of these with Steve in the future.

India as I Saw It, Part 2

DSCN3662

Once the plane wheels left the runway in Atlanta, the pilot was in total control of our lives, and by the pilot, I mean God.   In our carefully structured lives that we have made for ourselves at home, we like to think we are more in control than we really are.  This …

India as I Saw It, Part 1

0790649c_DSC_3970

Okay, a lot of my mission teammates have written posts on our recent India mission trip, so I will attempt to do the same thing.   A team of seven from our church and a team of four from our pastor’s former church left for India on November 4th for a ten day mission of dedicating some churches, encouraging …

Perspectives – Are Genetically Modified Foods Safe to Eat?

The Christian Libertarian – GMOs By Darin Osborne   One may assume (incorrectly) since Libertarians are concerned with limited government the response toward GMOs should be that of little to no regulations. But remember, TRUE Libertarianism is concerned most with individual liberty ( not corporation freedom) and the Constitution.  The US Constitution does allow for …

254975_158998980832760_373561_n

In the third edition of “Perspectives”, I present our third panelist – Darin Osborne of Griffin, Georgia.  Darin is a libertarian and a Christian.  And when you look up HETEROSEXUAL in the dictionary, it says:  SEE ALSO DARIN OSBORNE.  (Just a little joke, Darin.)   The Christian Libertarian By Darin Osborne      So, I am “for” gay …

“D” Thoughts

Our Sunday school class got into a good discussion this morning about the biblical qualifications of deacons (1 Timothy), and invariably the discussion turned towards two of the qualifications:  “the husband of one wife” and “not being given to much alcohol”.   I support our pastor and our church 100%.  I also support a literal …

Perspectives – What’s Up With the Zombie Craze?

jessica

In the second edition of “Perspectives”, I present our second panelist – my cousin Jessica Gaddis.  Jessica is tired of people talking about politics and the economy all the time, so she wants to talk about subjects “off the beaten path”.  Jessica lives in Georgia.  She also lived for a time in New Jersey, but I …

Perspectives – So, Just What is the Second Amendment All About Anyway?

thinker

In this inaugural presentation of “Perspectives”, I will state my opinions on the Second Amendment, as will John Devin Swearingen, a self-described fiscal conservative and social liberal who lives in Texas.   The 2nd Amendment vs. Political Efficacy and Their Effects on Liberty By John Devin Swearingen      Many Americans, mostly conservative, have this …

Lions and Muggles and Hobbits, Should I? Part 4

imagesCA6IZ06W

The fourth installment of our discussion series. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling:  Is it really that bad?   The dreaded Harry Potter discussion, where there seems to be no middle ground.  (If there was a middle ground, would there then be Middles?)  Anyway, let’s get a few things straight about Harry Potter right off the bat, …
